So who am I?
I started writing at university as a Travel Editor for the student newspaper and also submitted articles to BBC Nottingham online so writing has always been a passion of mine. When I completed my degree in Communication Studies (2:1), with a dissertation in media, I went on to become a trainee reporter at Staffordshire Newspapers - now owned by Local World -  which includes Staffordshire Life, The Burton Mail and the Uttoxeter Advertiser. This is where I became a trained journalist  gaining an NCTJ and Diploma in Journalism.  At the Staffordshire Newspapers Group I worked on all publications  from wedding magazines, features, court reporting, the daily newspaper and  finally became the senior reporter for the weekly Uttoxeter office.
After nearly four years of reporting I turned to PR and became a press officer at Stoke-on-Trent City Council. The role in a busy and demanding communcations team meant I was responsible for protecting and promoting the council's reputation. Working with all media from tv and radio to national and trade press I fostered good relationships with journalists across many fields.
In my seven years at the company I  was also asked to take the lead on a number of areas including public health, regeneration and adult social care.

In my role as regeneration lead I over saw the publicity of the city's £15million new bus station working closely with trade press such as the Estate Gazette and Architects Journal as well as supporting the promotion of the city's thriving pottery industry to national and trade press.

A varied and interesting role it meant I not only got the chance to immerse myself in a project to source the stories that make a difference  and promote the city but was also tasked with crisis managing negative stories and reacting to media enquiries.
With a passion for writing  it is this chance to search out the stories that make a difference and make a business stand out which I enjoy most.
I love to create engaging wording that makes projects stand out whether it be in the media, on websites, leaflets or features.

Using the skills and training in more than 10 years experience  I am now able to offer my services on a freelance basis to help suppport and promote your business.
