Crescent Motors, in Wetmore Road, is leading the way in service and repairs for electric vehicles following investment in greener technology as they celebrate a record year for the family firm.
After installing new equipment and training staff, the independent garage is now home to one of only 6.5% of mechanics in the UK currently qualified to work on electric vehicles (EV), according to the Institute of Motoring Industry.
Part of continued investment for the garage as they look to expand, it comes as the team marks a record year with sales up 25% in the last year.
Finance and Operations Director Lyndsey Watson, who took over the running of the business from her father Steve Tallet in 2019, with her husband Stuart, said it was a real achievement for the garage which continues to go from strength to strength.
“As an independent garage we are passionate about providing the very best service for our customers and the wider community.
“Electric vehicles are becoming more and more common place and it is important we have the technology and skills to be able to support greener vehicles.
“It is a massive achievement to see how far Crescent Motors has come in the last three years and we are privileged to have such a great team supporting us.”
Crescent Motors, which has been operating in the town for 20 years, are vetted by the Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Repair Alliance (HEVRA) which support best practice in independent garages working with EV. They are also part of the Motor Ombudsman which regulates the UK motoring industry.
Last month they became one of only a handful of independent garages in the area fully qualified to service and repair electric vehicles. They also have a new dual charging point on site with plans to invest in an electric vehicle courtesy car.
Part of continued investment in the town Crescent Motors, who support Burton Albion Community Trust and local homeless charity YMCA, was started by Steve Tallet in 2002. Originally based in Victoria Crescent, Burton, the firm has since expanded and moved to its current base in Wetmore Road in 2014.
Husband and wife duo Lyndsey and Stuart Watson, who is now Managing Director, have increased the workforce by 25% in recent years as the company continues to grow its reputation in the area.
Specialising in MOTs, repairs and servicing for domestic and commercial customers they have recently taken on two new apprentices as they increase capacity at the garage to extend their commercial support in the region. There are also plans to recruit a further MOT tester to keep up with demand.
