Wow, what a year! From invitations to the House of Lords and record ticket sales for PR campaigns to sharing expertise and reflecting on milestones of national importance.
2023 has certainly been a busy year and one which has brought about many interesting projects as well as personal achievements and continued collaborations.
As Christmas draws closer, we look back at the past 12 months and the key moments that have shaped 2023 for Creative Word PR.
Taking on projects of national importance
2023 was the 60th anniversary of the end of National Service in the UK. A momentous occasion, Creative Word PR was asked to support specialist exhibition makers Making Trails in writing the content for Remembering National Service at The National Arboretum.
A poignant exhibition which celebrated and looked back at the life of National Servicemen after World War Two the event was officially opened by HRH Princess Anne.
Supporting collaboration
2023 continued to be a year of collaborations for Creative Word PR. Springboarding the start of The Collective we continue to work with like-minded experts to offer flexible support as and when you need it. From working alongside marketing experts and event organisers to supporting other PR firms, collaboration continues to be key when it comes to delivering great campaigns.
Record sales boost for clients
Creative Word PR offers ongoing PR support to the National Forest Adventure Farm in Staffordshire. Carrying out a series of campaigns around their different events this year saw ticket sales for their summer Farmarama event double. The campaign centred around the launch of their new Mega Slide and secured coverage in all the major regional press as well as further afield in Bristol and Sheffield.

The buzz around the launch saw engagement rocket on social media with record ticket sales despite the wash out summer weather.
CPD certified
Updating my knowledge is important so I am proud to this year have again completed my professional development certificate with CIPR – the world’s only Royal Chartered professional body for public relations practitioners. Having completed my fourth cycle of CPD it is always a great opportunity to update my knowledge and look at new skills.
Invite to the House of Lords
Small Business Saturday is a movement which celebrates and promotes small businesses in the UK. Small businesses make up 99 % of all UK businesses so each year the group highlight independent companies and encourage communities to think local when it comes to shopping and services. To help smaller businesses to get additional support to grow their business Small Business Saturday launched the Small and Mighty Programme. Creative Word PR was chosen to take part and after completing the six-week course has been invited to the House of Lords next year for a celebratory networking lunch.
Busting PR Myths series launched
To prove PR doesn’t need to be complicated I launched the Busting PR Myths series in 2023 which provides jargon free, simple answers to break down myths around PR. From how it works, to working on a budget and avoiding the pitfalls it is everything you need to know about how to get the most out of your PR coverage.
The series has been well received and we will be continuing to bust more myths next year in order to simplify PR and help businesses to get the most out of their activity.
Being chosen to comment as an expert in the industry
I was honoured to be chosen to share my expertise on several topics for industry publication PR Moment. Reaching nearly half of all PR people in the UK it is a highly regarded PR trade publication which offers industry insight across several topics, so I was proud to be one of the PR professionals featured in its expert comment section.
Talking about PR fails as well as another piece on the best PR stunts of 2023 it was a chance to share expertise with other professionals.
My Busting PR Myths series has also been featured in the CIPR Influence magazine as the ‘PR fails and how to avoid them’ blog was chosen to feature as an article in the prestigious PR publication.
Helping voices be heard
Radio and TV interviews are a great way to showcase your business and something that we continue to support. From pumpkin picking to hedgehog homes and UNICEF rights respecting schools our clients have featured on various regional radio stations as well as podcasts to talk about everything from preparing scream actors for fright nights to how children are building a brighter future with eco initiatives.
Supporting women in tech
This year I was privileged to support the UK’s first mathematically driven network meeting – Talk Networking. Scientifically powered to boost interaction and help businesses connect owner Felicity Francis helped to raise awareness of women in tech in an International Women’s Day (IWD) campaign.
Never a dull moment at Creative Word PR it has been a busy 12 months with lots of interesting projects and success stories. I am looking forward to seeing what 2024 brings.
