2022 in 12 moments for Creative Word PR

Ever wondered what life is like at an independent PR and content writing service?

Would you like to know what owner Cheryl Morris does each day?

As we approach the 12 days of Christmas, we take a minute to look back at 12 moments that have shaped our year to give an insight into the world of Creative Word PR, our projects and passion.

With hundreds of pieces of coverage for clients from TV, radio, national news, trade and regional newspapers it has certainly been a bumper year for coverage.

Supporting projects with everything from blood curdling fright nights and hiking Vikings to NHS heroes and racing driver children, we have certainly had our fair share of exciting news to tell.

So, as Christmas draws closer, we look back at the past 12 months and the successes and moments that have shaped 2022 for Creative Word PR.

1.Frights, pumpkins and Christmas elves

It was an eventful few months of shocks, winter squash and Christmas spirit as Creative Word PR supported the National Forest Adventure Farm with a series of PR event campaigns. A Staffordshire family farm park set in 40 acres of countryside the site is home to daytime family treats such as Spooktacular and North Pole Adventure as well as adult fright nights Screamfest during Halloween.  Regional and ongoing radio coverage brought each of the independent farm park’s events to life with sell out ticket sales across Halloween and Christmas events.

A key highlight has to be running through the zombie infested Scream Park with Radio Derby as the presenter took a frightening behind the scenes look at this year’s Screamfest event.

2. Showcasing art to transform our town centres

In the summer holidays local art trail specialists Making Trails launched their Big Burton Carousel Event. Creative Word PR worked alongside the firm to help promote the use of art in transforming town centres and increasing footfall. Working with council trade publications and regional news the campaign highlighted the importance of using art in reviving the UK’s struggling High Streets. Read more about the campaign and how we were able to gain BBC TV, radio and online coverage among other publications in our blog.

3. Celebrating the Queens Award for voluntary services

I was honoured to be among guests invited to a celebratory event to mark the Buddy Bag Foundation volunteers being awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The awards were handed out as part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration on June 2nd 2022 to recognise volunteers going above and beyond in their community.

On Saturday 17th September some of the Buddy Bag Foundation’s volunteers were invited to a special celebration at the Harvest Fields Community Centre in Sutton Coldfield.

Creative Word PR supported the charity when it was first launched offering voluntary media support to raise awareness of the charity and call for more volunteers and support. TV coverage and regional press saw volunteer numbers more than double with additional funding and donations to provide essential items, teddies, toys and special comforters for children.

Since the charity was started 7 years ago, they have now raised just under £1million to support families, with 100% of the money raised going directly to the supply of Buddy Bags.

4.  Sharing PR tips

As a former journalist Cheryl was pleased to be asked to share her PR insights for a number of articles in trade publication PR Moment. In particular,  top tips for selling in, was a PR highlight. Pitching to journalists is definitely an art. In a busy newsroom it is crucial your pitch stands out for all the right reasons, or it can easily get lost.

If you are looking for some advice on making sure that you hit all the right notes when talking to journalists read more in the PR Moment article or read our latest blog on What makes a good story a winning pitch for a journalist.

5. Hiking with a Viking

We joined a Burton school’s campaign to encourage sustainable school travel as we went Hiking with a Viking. Joining Radio Derby and nearly 100 pupils and parents Creative Word PR helped the school highlight the need for families to ditch the car and get walking to ease congestion, improve pollution and inspire healthier choices.

Featuring throughout the Andy Twigg Breakfast Show teachers, pupils and even a ‘real life’ Viking shared their insights on the topic. Read all about our Hiking with a Viking experience.

6. National coverage for STEM

A Briggs of Burton and STEMventuri campaign to promote the importance of STEM activities for young people – Hilton Formula 24 – received national coverage. The innovative project to design, build and race a race car was featured on Sky News childrens program FYI, the UK’s most read newspaper for young people First News as well as BBC News. A great result for the campaign it helped to raise awareness of the need for such projects and raised more than £10,000 for the project allowing it to offer a variety of new opportunities including an additional race car for younger drivers.

7. Celebrated NHS Heroes

At the beginning of the year Derby communications and telecoms specialist EVAD received national recognition for its role in supporting the NHS during the pandemic.

A one off campaign it was a great way to raise the profile of the business locally and share their success.

Regional PR can be a powerful tool in helping to promote a business. Not only benefiting from the local exposure it can boost SEO presence and show prospective clients that you are valued in your community. Find out more in our blog Regional PR – a dying art or a powerful ally?

With ongoing content and PR support the business was featured in numerous print trade press including a feature on Managing Director Liz Smith highlighting the role of women in the predominantly male orientated industry.
